Dhamar Governor Mohammed Nasser Al-Bukhaiti honored on Monday the champions of the first school championship for athletics, organized by the General Federation for School Sports.
The three-day tournament, sponsored by the Ministries of Youth and Sports and Education and Scientific Research and funded by the Youth and Youth Welfare Fund, was attended by 55 students representing Dhamar, Hajjah, Dhale', Al-Bayda, Amran, Secretariat, Sana'a, Taiz, Hodeidah, Sa'ada and Mahwit provinces.
The winners of the 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter, 800-meter, 4 relay, and long jump races were honored with colorful medals, and the winning teams in the overall team standings were honored with cups and money, in addition to honoring the provincial teams with certificates of participation.
Dhamar province students won first place in the overall ranking of the championship with six golds, Al-Mahwit students came second with three silvers and two bronzes, Amran students took third place with one silver, Al-Dhale' came fourth with a silver, Sa'ada fifth with a silver, Al-Hodeida sixth with two bronzes, and Secretariat seventh with two bronzes.
