Sana'a - Saba:
A meeting chaired by the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Administration and Local and Rural Development, Khalil al-Quraishi, was held to discuss measures to control the cholera epidemic in Bani al-Harith district in Sana'a City.
Al-Quraishi stressed the need to develop a practical and effective mechanism to contain the epidemic and prevent its spread, pointing to the importance of coordination between the concerned authorities, and the role of the local authority and society in preserving the health of citizens and the environment.
The meeting stressed the importance of accurate diagnosis of the causes of the epidemic and the adoption of appropriate measures, with a focus on environmental and health awareness, while Undersecretary Nabil Al-Dimashqi pointed to benefiting from the successes of the anti-malaria campaign in Hodeidah to activate community initiatives in the face of cholera.
The meeting also discussed ways to prevent the irrigation of crops with sewage water because of its serious effects on health and the environment, while proposing the establishment of water barriers to benefit from rainwater and the use of solar energy to irrigate crops with clean water.
