Naim says Mediators resumed negotiations between Hamas, Zionist entity

Gaza - Saba:

Leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas Basem Naim on Friday confirmed that international mediators resumed negotiations with the movement and Israel regarding a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Palestine Today News Agency quoted the leader Naim in press statements Friday as saying "We have hope to reach an agreement that ends the war that has been going on for 14 months."

He added "I believe that the next US administration, led by President-elect Donald Trump, can "positively affect the situation," taking into account that Trump made stopping wars in the region part of his election campaign program."

Naim stressed Hamas's adherence to the basic demands that it clung to during previous rounds of negotiations, including the implementation of a permanent ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of Zionist forces from the Gaza Strip, and the right of internally displaced Palestinians in Gaza to return to their homes.

He pointed out that the movement is "ready to show flexibility" regarding implementing this, including the timetable for the withdrawal of Zionist forces from the main parts of the Gaza Strip.

Egyptian sources confirmed earlier today, Friday, that Egypt received the Zionist response regarding the new proposal for a prisoner exchange deal and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The sources said that the Zionist response included "leniency" on previous points that were a clear point of disagreement, which paves the way for an agreement on the details related to the prisoners, the method of their return, and the numbers that will be released.

They added that Cairo requested that the Palestinian resistance be given a deadline in order to list all living prisoners and communicate with those responsible for them, while women are supposed to be released first, then men over 50 years of age and those with chronic diseases.

They explained that in exchange for responding to the Zionist priorities regarding the prisoners, which will be met by extending the truce and bringing relief aid into the Strip, hundreds of Palestinian prisoners will be released, including "limited numbers" of those sentenced to life imprisonment.
