Iranian authorities unveiled a significant achievement on Saturday: the production of a high-voltage radio pulse generator, a key component of electron accelerators, by the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Center.
According to Tasnim International News Agency, the unveiling ceremony was attended by the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Mohammad Eslami, and the ceremony took place on the sidelines of the exhibition called "Technology Market".
In a speech at the ceremony, Eslami referred to the efforts made by Iranian scientists to create this system, saying, "This system is one of the main parts of electron accelerators and we urgently need it in the country."
Islami also referred to the other parts of this exhibition, especially in the section on nuclear agriculture. What we need in this section is radiation.
With regard to radioactive medicines (radioisotopes), Eslami said that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran is currently distributing 69 types of radioisotopes (to medical and hospital centers in Iran) and that there are 20 new radioactive medicines that are subject to research and that some of them have entered the stage of clinical testing, and will be presented on the market after passing these stages. He explained that these radioactive drugs are used to combat cells affected by cancer.
