A meeting was held in Sana'a , chaired by on Sunday First Deputy Prime Minister Allamah Mohammed Muftah, to discuss the final preparations for the opening of Al-Ihsan Center for Unaccompanied Homeless in the Capital Secretariat.
The meeting, which included the Secretary of the Capital, Dr. Hamoud Abad, and a number of ministers, undersecretaries and representatives of agencies related to the aspects of care, health and shelter for the most vulnerable groups, reviewed the tasks accomplished in the national program for the care and shelter of the homeless (unaccompanied homeless psychiatric patients).
The meeting tasked the relevant authorities and ministries to provide logistical support, including electricity, water, telecommunications, furniture, transportation, health , medical equipment and supplies, in addition to medical staff and social workers, within a maximum period of two weeks.
The meeting emphasized the role of the Ministry of Social Affairs , Labor in supervising and managing this center through scientific methods and means, in cooperation with all concerned parties, especially the Public Authority for Zakat, in order to achieve the desired results in addressing the psychological aspect of the homeless and returning them to their families as natural and effective elements.
The meeting decided to hold a workshop on what is required for the care of the homeless in general, in partnership with the relevant authorities, and to come up with a program and recommendations that contribute to addressing this phenomenon.
Minister Bajaala inspected the components of the center in the former Red Crescent building in the Saraf area, which consists of three floors; it has been rehabilitated; it includes several shelter rooms, clinics and a kitchen, in addition to a sports yard , an external reception room, and its capacity is estimated at more than 500 beds.
On a related note, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Bajaala, along with Assistant Undersecretary Yasser Sharafuddin, were briefed on the services provided to the inmates of Al-Rahma Hospital for Psychiatric and Mental Diseases, located in Al-Safiya area in Secretariat.
Minister Bajaala pointed to the Revolutionary Leader's interest in vulnerable groups, stressing the ministry's keenness to support the hospital's needs in cooperation with the competent authorities.
The minister heard an explanation from the hospital's director general, Abdulrahman Zabara, about the services provided to the hospital's 75 inmates by staff specialized in round-the-clock health and medical care, in addition to providing nutrition, shelter and medicines.
