An earthquake measuring 4.9 magnitude on the Richter scale hit the state of Chlef, west of the Algerian capital, early Monday morning.
The Algerian Research Center for Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics reported that the earthquake occurred at 01:09 local time, and that the epicenter was three kilometers north of Zabouja, Chlef, on the Mediterranean coast.
For its part, the Algerian Civil Defense Authority announced that there were no immediate reports of material or human losses in the various municipalities of the province.
