The Israeli Army Radio revealed on Wednesday that a number of settlers crossed the border into Lebanon and set up tents in the border town of Maroun al-Ras.
The Israeli army announced that an investigation is underway into this serious incident, but it did not mention whether this act occurred today, or whether it was talking about a similar event that occurred a few days ago.
The Jewish Press newspaper reported on December 9 that members of the Ori Tzafon movement (Wake Up, O North Wind), which aims to establish Jewish settlements in southern Lebanon, carried out their first field activity over the weekend, with dozens of them arriving in the town of Maroun al-Ras, where they held a gathering and named it Mei Marom (Water from Heaven).
"Israel has often found that it has no choice but to invade Lebanon to ensure its security," it said in a statement, adding that "there is an iron rule in modern Israeli history any place from which Israel withdraws becomes a hostile state of the most brutal kind. This was true in Gaza, and it was also true in Lebanon."
