A meeting held in Dhamar Governorate today, chaired by the Undersecretary of the Endowments Authority, Dr. Muhammad Al-Somali, discussed efforts to correct the conditions of endowment objects and properties that benefit the official authorities in the governorate.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Somali stressed the importance of adhering to the directives of the Leader of the Revolution and the President of the Supreme Political Council related to correcting contracts and conditions of endowments, following up on the debts of official bodies and developing mechanisms for their payment, including proposals on set-off in mutual entitlements. He also called for assigning representatives from each government agency to contribute to the inventory of endowment assets under its management, identify the surplus, and return it to the Awqaf Authority for investment to serve the public interest.
The meeting touched on the role of the Awqaf Authority in protecting and developing its properties, in a way that contributes to achieving the objectives of the endowment related to mosques, education, Islamic heritage, and caring for the needy. Dr. Al-Somali also pointed out the importance of adopting joint investment projects between the authority and other entities to ensure the sustainability of charity work.
For his part, the director of the Awqaf Authority office in the governorate, Faisal Al-Hatfi, reviewed the leadership's directives to establish a higher committee to address the conditions of endowment properties, stressing the need for concerted efforts to preserve the endowment properties and translate them into development projects.
The meeting included the announcement of the start of the implementation of the second phase of a large commercial investment project for the Awqaf Authority in the governorate, at a cost of 400 million riyals, with the aim of providing more than three thousand job opportunities.
