Hodeida - Saba:
A press conference on the repercussions of the Zionist aggression targeting Hodeida ports, Saleef and Ras Issa, organized by the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, was held on Saturday at the port of Hodeida.

The conference, which was attended by Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohammed Qahim, Hodeida province Undersecretary for Culture and Media Affairs Ali Qishr, the team of the United Nations Mission to Support Hodeida Agreement, and local and foreign media reporters, addressed the damage caused to Hodeida ports as a result of the terrorist crime committed by the enemy entity against these civil and vital facilities at dawn last Thursday.

At the conference, the Minister of Transportation and Public Works held the United States and the international community fully responsible for the terrorist crimes committed by the Zionist entity against the Red Sea ports to hinder their services and cause a humanitarian catastrophe for the Yemenis.

Qahim considered the repeated Zionist aggression on the Red Sea ports in Hodeida as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and recognized conventions and protocols that criminalize the targeting of ports , civilian objects and emphasize their protection and preservation.

He explained that despite these attacks, Hodeida port continues to operate normally. He praised the efforts of the leadership and employees of the Red Sea Ports Corporation in containing the effects of this crime and standing firmly against attempts to disrupt the ports of Hodeida and implementing the available remedies.

He emphasized that the crimes of the Zionist enemy will not deter the Yemenis from their support for the Palestinians, based on their religious, humanitarian and moral duty in light of the shameful international and UN silence towards Gaza's genocidal war.

For his part, the head of the Red Sea Ports Authority, Zaid Al-Washli, reviewed the nature and extent of the damage that affected the port of Hodeida in terms of infrastructure, tugboats, the power station and gantry cranes, in addition to the loss of nine martyrs who worked in the organization and the oil company.

He explained that the holding of this conference comes in conjunction with the presence of the United Nations Mission to Support Al-Hodeida Agreement, which carries out three patrols every week in the ports of Hodeida, Saleef and Ras Isa. He pointed out that these service ports are not military barracks and are subject to inspection procedures by this team.

He stressed that the Red Sea Ports Corporation is working despite these repercussions and risks at a high pace to contain the damage by providing solutions, treatments and alternatives to ensure the continuation of navigation activity and the reception of commercial ships and containers.

A statement issued by the press conference referred to the repercussions of the crimes committed by the Zionist enemy entity against the ports of Hodeida, Saleef and Ras Issa, the latest of which caused the martyrdom of nine port and oil employees, damage to the infrastructure, facilities and equipment of the ports, and an attempt to affect their operational capacity.

The statement explained that the Red Sea Ports Corporation is still suffering from the consequences of the previous damage of the Israeli aggression, to expose its ports once again to serious damage to the equipment and infrastructure of the port of Hodeida, which affected the gantry cranes, the power plant and the tugboats assisting ships, with total losses estimated at about 313 million dollars for the period July 20 - December 19 of the current year 2024.

The statement condemned the Zionist arrogance in its crimes, with unconditional US and Western support, to disregard the lives of civilians and destroy the capabilities of the Yemenis, of which these ports are one of the pillars by providing services in accordance with international standards, requirements, international maritime codes and procedures in force in international ports.

The Red Sea Ports Corporation warned of the consequences of targeting its ports. It pointed out that the systematic targeting of these ports since 2015 with deliberate crimes falls within the framework of major war crimes with the aim of disrupting the services of these ports, stopping their activity and depriving millions of Yemenis of their rights to obtain food, medicine and fuel.

The statement renewed the call on the international community, the United Nations and its affiliated organizations to fulfill their responsibilities towards the destruction and targeting of Hodeida ports for ten years, as part of the pressure to pass political cards, resort to humanitarian warfare and deliberately affect the services of these civilian facilities and ports.
