Hawaii - Saba:
Lava began flowing today, Tuesday, through the crust of one of the most active volcanoes in the world, the Kilauea volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii.
The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said in a statement: The eruption was only at the summit of the volcano in a remote and closed area in the Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park, and camera images began to show lava emerging from cracks in the crater or flowing like fountains.
The observatory added: The most serious threat is the volcanic smog that can reach homes located downwind. This "fog" contains sulfur dioxide and can exacerbate symptoms in people with conditions such as asthma or other respiratory problems or cardiovascular diseases.
It is worth noting that the area where the volcano erupted has been closed to the public since 2007 due to risks that include instability of the crater wall, cracking of the ground, and falling rocks.
