Gaza residents call for help after their tents blown away, flooded by winds, rain

Gaza - Saba:

The people of Gaza sent on Saturday a distress call to Arabs and Muslims to save their lives after the tents of the displaced people in the Strip were blown away by strong winds, and some of them were flooded by rain and sea water.

Today's scenes, according to the Palestine Today Agency, showed the people of Gaza calling for help from Arabs and Muslims after their tents were blown away by the strong winds that hit the Strip, saying: "Oh Muslims, wake up, we are dying from the cold, the tents are snow, our children are dying".

The government media office in Gaza had said that 81% of the displaced are living a tragic humanitarian crisis that threatens the death of thousands of them due to the deterioration of their tents and the severe frost waves that are hitting the Strip, where the displaced are living in harsh conditions that have caused the death of five cases in the past few days due to the severe cold and the occupation's destruction of the housing sector.

The government media explained in a statement Saturday that two million displaced people have been living for more than a full year in tents made of cloth, which have become unusable due to time and weather conditions, indicating that 110,000 tents out of 135,000 tents have become out of service, meaning 81% of the tents have completely deteriorated.

More than one and a half million displaced people are living in extremely poor humanitarian conditions, in light of the severe shortage of basic life necessities and water and food supplies.

The suffering of the displaced people, especially those who live in worn-out tents made of cloth or nylon and in shelters, is exacerbated by the low-pressure systems that are hitting the Gaza Strip, as they are unable to warm their children's bodies due to the lack of supplies, while the rains flood many of their tents.

The Israeli occupation continues its aggression on the Gaza Strip, by land, sea and air, since October 7, 2023, which resulted in the martyrdom of 45,338 citizens, the majority of whom are women and children, and the injury of 107,764 others, in an incomplete toll, as thousands of victims are still under the rubble and in the streets, and ambulance and rescue crews cannot reach them.
