Ottawa - Saba:
Canadian media revealed today, Monday, that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may announce his resignation from the leadership of the ruling Liberal Party in Canada.
The press reports did not specify when Trudeau will announce his resignation, but they are confident that it will happen before the party meeting on Wednesday.
Three sources said they are not sure what the National Executive Committee of the Liberal Party plans to do to replace Trudeau as leader.
It is not yet clear whether Trudeau will step down immediately or remain prime minister until a new leader is chosen, according to the sources.
The National Executive Committee of the Liberal Party of Canada, which makes decisions on leadership issues, plans to meet this week.
Canadian media had previously reported that more than 50 parliamentarians from the Liberal Party, led by the current prime minister, reached a unanimous opinion that Trudeau should leave his position.
Canada's New Democratic Party leader, Jagmeet Singh, also called on Trudeau to resign and announced a vote of no confidence in the Canadian leader at the next meeting of the House of Commons.
