Addis Ababa - Saba:
5.3-magnitude earthquake struck an area 25 kilometers northeast of the city of Awash in Ethiopia on Wednesday morning, according to the US Geological Survey.
The earthquake occurred at 02:53 a.m. local time, at latitude 9.199 degrees north and longitude 40.236 degrees east, at a depth of 10 kilometers below the surface of the earth.
There have been no reports of material damage or human losses as a result of the earthquake so far.
On January 4, an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale struck Ethiopia, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences, without mentioning any material or human damage.
Ethiopia has witnessed repeated earthquakes in the past two weeks, exceeding 120 earthquakes, making 2024 a record number of earthquakes compared to recent years.
