Britain: Israel's decision to ban
[08/ January/2025]
London - Saba:
The British Foreign Office said, "Israel's decision to ban the activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) should not come into effect."

This was stated by Anneliese Dodds, Minister of State for Development at the Foreign Office, on Tuesday evening, in response to questions related to Israel's decision to ban UNRWA's activities, during a session of the International Development Committee held in the British Parliament.

Dodds indicated that her government's opinion is that "this decision should not come into effect."

The British minister added that "UNRWA has clear authority and its work is very necessary" to support Palestinian refugees.

She added: "There is no doubt that there is no other organization that can provide aid and services as UNRWA does, not only in Gaza, but throughout the region."

She recalled that the activities carried out by UNRWA for decades are subject to the authority of the United Nations.

The British minister warned that the Israeli ban would cause great suffering to the Palestinians.
