Gaza shakes off ashes of Zionist genocide after it affected all aspects of life : Report
[19/ January/2025]
Sana'a - Saba:

The "ceasefire" agreement in the Gaza Strip officially entered into effect Sunday, after 15 months of brutal aggression that has left over 157,000 martyrs and wounded, the majority of whom were women and children. More than 11,000 individuals remain missing, while the region has been devastated by widespread destruction and famine, resulting in the deaths of many children and elderly people. This marks one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.

**Celebrations in Gaza Mark Ceasefire, But Zionist Violations Mar the Moment**

At 8:30 am on January 19, 2025, the Gaza Strip witnessed a scene of celebration as the ceasefire agreement officially came into effect, bringing relief to residents and displaced families who had endured 15 months of brutal aggression. Streets and displacement camps filled with jubilation, as many hoped for an end to the war of genocide.

However, the celebrations were overshadowed by continued violations from the Zionist enemy. Despite the ceasefire being in effect for hours, several areas of the Strip faced further attacks, resulting in the martyrdom of 23 Palestinian citizens and injuries to dozens more. These violations marred what was meant to be a moment of relief, as many Palestinians had been counting the seconds for the horrors of genocide to finally end.

The Palestinian Information Center reported widespread celebrations across the Gaza Strip following the entry into force of the ceasefire. Vehicles filled the streets, honking their horns in celebration of the cessation of the genocide, while the sound of takbeers echoed from mosques, including those that had been destroyed during the conflict.

Palestinian citizens took to the streets, firing bullets and fireworks in joy, marking the end of the war and celebrating the victory of the resistance. The celebrations highlighted the failure of the Zionist enemy to achieve any of its declared objectives, particularly its goal of eliminating the resistance. The atmosphere was one of triumph and resilience, as Gaza's people rejoiced in their survival and the continued strength of their resistance.

In the aftermath of the ceasefire on January 19, 2025, citizens in Gaza's displacement camps celebrated with a mix of joy and defiance. Amid the rubble, people distributed sweets to children, whose bodies had been ravaged by hunger and trauma from the war. These children, who had borne the brunt of the genocide, celebrated with the simple yet powerful message that today was a holiday, a day to claim victory despite the horrors they had endured.

Palestinians began dismantling their tents and returned to their residences, raising victory signs and Palestinian flags over the remains of destroyed neighborhoods. Revolutionary songs filled the air, marking a moment of pride, happiness, and resilience in the face of immense loss and suffering.

However, while Gaza took a moment to rejoice, violence continued in the West Bank, including occupied al-Quds, where attacks from enemy forces and settlers intensified. These escalations resulted in the martyrdom of 835 Palestinians, with thousands more injured and many arrested. The destruction of homes, facilities, and military checkpoints continued, further isolating cities, towns, and villages.

The economic impact of the ongoing conflict has been devastating, with reports from the Palestinian News Agency "Wafa" detailing the financial crisis deepening due to the Israeli government's seizure of Palestinian funds. Unemployment rates have soared, especially as thousands of workers in the 48 territories lost their jobs, while economic activities in the West Bank have sharply declined.

Since the beginning of the aggression on October 7, 2023, the toll on Gaza has been catastrophic. At least 46,913 Palestinians have been martyred, including 17,581 children and 12,048 women, with over 110,750 others injured. About 11,000 remain missing under rubble and on the roads, contributing to a 6% decrease in Gaza's population by the end of 2024. Despite these overwhelming losses, the spirit of defiance and the commitment to resistance remain strong among the Palestinian people.

The Zionist-American aggression caused the displacement of more than 85 percent of the citizens of the Gaza Strip, i.e. more than 1.93 million citizens out of 2.2 million, from their homes after their destruction, and about 100,000 citizens have left the Strip since the beginning of the aggression.

About 1.6 million Gazans are currently living in shelters and tents that lack the minimum requirements for human life, amidst massive and unprecedented destruction of infrastructure and citizens' property. It is estimated that more than 80 percent of the Gaza Strip is destroyed.

A report by "Wafa" agency showed that the aggression prevented 788,000 students in the Gaza Strip from attending their schools and universities for the second year in a row, including more than 58,000 who were supposed to join the first grade in the 2024-2025 academic year, in addition to 39,000 who did not take the high school exam.

Since the beginning of the aggression until the end of September 2024, more than 77 government schools were completely destroyed, while 191 schools were bombed and vandalized, including 126 government schools and 65 schools affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). More than 51 university buildings were completely destroyed, 57 buildings were partially destroyed, and more than 20 universities were severely damaged.

During its aggression, the Zionist enemy completely destroyed 815 mosques, partially destroyed 151 mosques, and completely destroyed 19 cemeteries, violating their sanctity by attacking them, digging up their graves, and exhuming the bodies. It also targeted and destroyed three churches in Gaza City.

The occupation demolished about 195 historical buildings, most of which are located in Gaza City, partially or completely. Nine heritage sites and ten historical mosques and churches that form part of the memory of the Strip were damaged. The enemy forces deliberately destroyed public squares and demolished monuments and artworks in them, in addition to destroying 27 artistic murals in public places and along the beach of Gaza City.

All economic activities in the Gaza Strip witnessed a complete collapse from the beginning of the aggression until the end of 2024, which led to a sharp and unprecedented contraction in the gross domestic product in the Gaza Strip by more than 82 percent, accompanied by an increase in the unemployment rate to 80 percent.

In the occupied West Bank, during the aggression on the Gaza Strip, from October 7, 2023 until the end of 2024, about 835 citizens were martyred, including 173 children, and 6,450 others were injured, as a result of attacks by enemy forces and settler gangs.

Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist enemy prison administration has escalated its measures against detainees, including severe beatings and insults that degrade their dignity, and seized their achievements that were achieved as a result of long years of struggle in the occupation prisons, and reduced food in terms of quantity and quality, and deprived them of visits, and practiced against them all kinds of torture, oppression and humiliation, which reached the point of sexual harassment and assault on some of them.

The enemy forces carried out arrest operations that affected more than 25 thousand citizens, including approximately 14,300 detainees from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the others from the Gaza Strip.

Prisoners' institutions documented the arrest of 450 women, girls, university students, and liberated female prisoners, 89 of whom are still being held by the enemy in its prisons, in addition to the arrest of 1,065 children, and nearly 700 of them since the beginning of 2024.

Since the start of the aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the pace of restrictions on the Palestinians of the 1948 has increased by all means, including suppression of freedoms, incitement, threats, persecution, investigation, arrest, and abuse.

On July 19, 2024, the International Court of Justice issued a fatwa on the judicial repercussions of Zionist practices and their impact on the occupied territories, which confirmed that "Israel" must stop the occupation and end its illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Following the fatwa, the United Nations General Assembly adopted in September 2024, by a majority vote, a resolution demanding that "Israel" end its "illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territory" within 12 months.

From Washington to New York, London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Madrid, Brussels, Stockholm, Oslo, and dozens of capitals and cities around the world, thousands of demonstrations, sit-ins, and events were organized in the main streets and squares, in universities and schools, to denounce the war of extermination that the enemy has been waging against the Palestinian people since October 7, and to support Palestine and its just cause.

In a clear confirmation that the day after the war is a Palestinian decision that does not call for debate as much as it shows Israel's failure to bring down the resistance and its political advantage, Gaza witnessed a wide deployment of Palestinian police in the streets of the Strip following the announcement of a ceasefire between the Palestinian resistance and the Zionist entity.

The deployment of thousands of police officers was considered a significant step in restoring stability to the internal situation, in an effort to impose order and protect civilians after 15 days of the war of extermination in which the Palestinians in the Strip paid a heavy price for their steadfastness and the downfall of displacement and settlement projects and the return of the occupation of Gaza again.

The deployment of Palestinian security forces in Gaza angered the Zionists, who saw in it a message with very important political implications that the Gaza scene will definitely not be without Hamas.

Dozens of social media activists and opinion writers reposted one of the photos from the first day of Operation Flood of Al-Aqsa, of fighters from the Al-Qassam Brigades dragging a soldier from inside his tank on the day of the great crossing, and another photo of the resistance raising the victory sign in Gaza after the ceasefire was declared, and they attached the two photos with a comment that read "The first day of the war... and the next day."

Since the start of the war of extermination in Gaza, the enemy army has assassinated 723 policemen and aid security personnel, according to the latest statistics published by the government media office in Gaza on December 19.
