UN says 91% of Gaza homes damaged by Israeli assaults

New York - Saba:

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on Monday stated that 92% of homes in the Gaza Strip, or about 436 thousand homes, were destroyed or damaged as a result of the Zionist aggression, while 90% of Palestinian citizens were displaced from their homes.

The WHO Representative in Palestine, Dr. Rick Peeperkorn, said the ceasefire announcement gives hope, but the challenge ahead is daunting.

Addressing the enormous needs and restoring the health system will be a complex and difficult task, given the scale and complexity of the operations and the restrictions imposed on them, he added.

The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip came into effect on Sunday, at 11:15 am, after being delayed for more than two and a half hours, due to the occupation authorities announcing that it would not be implemented before receiving the list of female prisoners scheduled for release.

Since October 7, 2023, the occupation forces have launched an aggression on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the martyrdom of at least 46,913 citizens, including 17,581 children and about 12,048 women, and the injury of more than 110,750 others, while about 11,000 are still missing under the rubble and on the streets.
