[22/ January/2025]

Tehran - Saba:
The CEO of Iran's Knowledge Space Company, Hossein Shahrabi, announced the launch of an advanced version of the Kowsar satellite and the "Hudhud" satellite, under the name "Kowsar 1.5" into space in the first half of next year.

Mehr News Agency quoted Shahrabi, on the sidelines of the visit of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, yesterday, Tuesday, to the exhibition of achievements and capabilities of the private sector, as saying: The advanced version of the Kowsar satellite, called "Kowsar 1.5", will be launched in the first half of next year.

The "Kowsar 1.5" satellite, which is the result of the efforts of local experts, is in fact an advanced version of the "Kowsar" and "Hudhud" satellites, which were launched into space earlier this year.

These satellites, with their remote sensing (Kowsar) and Internet of Things (IoT) missions, play a major role in developing precision agriculture.

The CEO of this knowledge-based company announced that "more than 85 percent of the components of these satellites have been localized. Although all the parts are imported, the design and construction of these satellites were done by qualified local experts, and this project is completely local."

Shahrabi added: "A joint version of the Kowsar and Hudhud missions, called "Kowsar 1.5", will be launched in the first half of next year, and efforts are being made to design and produce the system of these satellites by attracting capital."

The CEO of this knowledge-based company considered the government's role in developing this industry to be very important, and called on the government to ensure the space services market and advance purchase of these services.
