Gaza - Saba:
Major Mahmoud Basal, spokesman for the Civil Defense in Gaza, confirmed that civil defense crews continue their work in recovery operations and removing bodies that are still found in roads and streets, amid very difficult conditions.

In media statements, Basal said on Wednesday: "Efforts are ongoing and we are still doing everything we can to provide support in the recovery operations, but the situation on the ground requires greater capabilities."

He noted that the reality in the northern Gaza Strip is completely different from other areas, as this area was subjected to massive destruction as a result of the ground operation that lasted for more than 100 days, in addition to the continuous shelling that resulted in the destruction of many homes.

"The northern Gaza Strip has become a pile of rubble, which makes recovery operations there very difficult, as sand, stones and bodies are mixed together," he added.

Basal emphasized the importance of heavy equipment arriving in the Gaza Strip. He stressed that since the third consecutive day of the ceasefire, no heavy equipment has arrived, which greatly hinders the Civil Defense's ability to complete the recovery operations and remove the bodies of martyrs from under the rubble.

"We urgently need this equipment to be able to continue our efforts to recover the martyrs and rescue the remaining survivors," he said.
