Jakarta – Saba:

The Indonesian Mosque Council announced that it “plans to build 100 mosques in the Gaza Strip in Palestine, in response to the urgent need of the people of Gaza, especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan.”

According to what was reported by the Palestinian Information Center today, Tuesday, the former Indonesian Vice President, Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, who currently holds the position of Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Management Council, pointed out “the importance of informing the Indonesian community about the situation in Gaza, and that more than a thousand mosques in Gaza have been destroyed by the Israeli occupation within a year and a half.”

He said: “As a first step, the Indonesian Mosque Council will build ten semi-permanent mosques, with the total number reaching 100 mosques.”

He expressed his “hope that worshipers in Indonesia will contribute their zakat and charity, ranging from 5-10 percent of their financial capabilities, to support the construction of mosques in Gaza.”

He added: “We have coordinated with the relevant authorities in Gaza and will determine how to implement the construction process.”

Yousef encouraged worshippers in Indonesia to participate in this program, given the extensive destruction of homes and mosques in Gaza due to the ongoing conflict.
