The Financial Times newspaper revealed, quoting current and former American officials, that the Chinese army is building a huge complex west of Beijing, which American intelligence believes will be used as a command center in times of war and is much larger than the Pentagon.
Satellite images obtained by the Financial Times newspaper, which are being examined by American intelligence, showed a 1,500-acre construction site, approximately 30 kilometers southwest of Beijing, with deep holes that military experts estimate will include large, fortified bunkers to protect Chinese military leaders during any conflict, including during any potential nuclear war.
Several American officials said that the intelligence community is closely monitoring the site, which will be the largest military command center in the world, and its size is at least ten times the size of the Pentagon.
Based on an assessment of satellite images obtained by the newspaper, major construction began in mid-2024, and three people familiar with the situation said some intelligence analysts have dubbed the project “Beijing Military City.”
