London-Saba
British media reported yesterday, Monday, quoting an unnamed British official that Britain is preparing for retaliatory measures if US President Donald Trump imposes customs duties on its products.
Trump has repeatedly threatened to impose customs duties on the European Union, and has not ruled out imposing them on British goods.
The British official said: "We are ready. We look forward to working closely with President Trump, but ministers will always do what is best for the national interest."
Earlier, Trump signed executive orders imposing customs duties on goods from Canada, Mexico and China.
Trump later announced a one-month exemption from tariffs on Mexico, after it agreed to send 10,000 troops to the southern US border to combat drug trafficking and the flow of illegal immigrants.
