UN rapporteurs condemned US President Donald Trump's decision to impose sanctions on officials of the International Criminal Court.
The UN rapporteurs explained in a statement yesterday, Monday, that Trump's decision is considered an attack on the rule of international law, and expressed their deep concern about imposing sanctions on court officials and individuals and institutions cooperating with it.
They stressed that this decision aims to overturn the international judicial system and will result in financial restrictions, and will lead to weakening the court and thus investigating war crimes committed in different parts of the world.
The statement pointed out that the judicial authority enjoyed by the International Criminal Court has not been used in a manner contrary to international law, indicating that Trump's decision will greatly undermine the work of the International Criminal Court.
The statement stressed that the United States of America "strengthens the power of perpetrators of war crimes" by trying to punish the International Criminal Court worldwide.
