Despite the current challenges due to the aggression and blockade, Al-Thawra General Hospital Authority in Hodeida Province achieved a qualitative leap in developing its medical, therapeutic, surgical and diagnostic services, which benefited more than 787,423 patients during the year 2024.
The annual report issued by the authority, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), indicated an increase in the number of incoming and outgoing cases to the hospital from the districts of Hodeida province and neighboring provinces, especially with the expansion of the services of many of the authority's departments , centers and the introduction of modern medical equipment during the past two years.
According to the report, 481,847 cases visited the outpatient clinics, 165,990 cases visited the pediatric emergency centers, 105,72 cases visited the general emergency, 9,33 cases visited the obstetric emergency, 22,86 cases visited the blood bank emergency, and 3,395 cases visited the burns emergency.
242 women benefited from family planning services, 3,476 women benefited from pregnancy care services, 40,607 cases benefited from the services of the physiotherapy center, and 401,788 cases benefited from medical laboratory services, with 736,332 laboratory tests.
According to the report, 92,518 cases benefited from X-rays, including bones, chest, urinary tract, teeth, head and digestive system, with 50,393 males and 42,125 females, while the sonar unit provided its services to 17,785 cases, CT scans to 12,781 cases, and MRI to 1,410 cases.
The cardiac catheterization, endoscopy and EEG unit performed therapeutic catheterization for 18 patients, diagnostic catheterization for 45 patients, gastroscopy for 555 patients, and EEG for 629 patients.
The report indicated that the total number of cases benefiting from diagnostic methods was 564,670, including lithotripsy for 39 patients and ECG for 14,847, while the total number of diagnostic methods amounted to 899,214.
According to the report, the hospital conducted 13,902 surgeries, distributed among 4,82 major operations, 5,241 medium operations, and 4,579 minor operations, including 4,288 gynecological operations, 2,997 general surgeries, 1,415 orthopedic operations, 1,124 eye operations, 1,216 "e. n. t." operations, and 816 "e. n. t." operations.N.T., 816 emergency general surgery, 1,152 urology, 415 vascular, 264 neurology, 156 oral , dental surgery, and 59 cosmetic and skin transplant surgeries.
One thousand and 310 immunodeficiency patients benefited from the medical, health, diagnostic and therapeutic services provided by Al-Thawra Hospital Authority during the past year, including 43 new cases, while 25,399 benefited from the services of the dental surgery unit.
Fifteen thousand and 205 cancer patients benefited from the services of the Cancer Oncology Unit, including 563 new cases, eight thousand and 822 cases from the services of the Malnutrition Center Clinic, including 935 new cases, one thousand and 126 cases from the diagnostic nutrition clinic, 13 thousand , 384 cases from the services of the clinical and therapeutic nutrition department.
The report stated that the Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Diseases Center provided services to 10,389 patients, including 472 new cases from Hodeida and other provinces, while the Fever Center provided services to 750 cases, and the Water Diarrhea Center to 6,872 cases.
The total number of beneficiaries visiting the hospital authority's pharmacies reached 219,297 cases, including ten pharmacies: pediatric ambulance, general emergency, departmental supply, specialty, burns center, obstetric emergency, major operations, nutrition, internationally monitored medicines, and the fever center.
During the year 2024, Al-Thawra Hospital Authority witnessed the opening of many projects, including the intensive care center with a capacity of 30 beds, at a cost of 678 million riyals, with self and external funding, and the inauguration of the latest impact wave lithotripter at a cost of $ 440,000 funded by the Yemen Inma Development Organization.
Among the projects implemented by the Authority, the opening of the September 21 Hall for training, rehabilitation and conferences with a capacity of more than 500 participants, and the inauguration of work on a number of modern medical devices that contributed to meeting the needs of patients, as well as the implementation of projects to establish major operations buildings , expand cardiac care and lying-in sections.
Among the most prominent achievements of the Authority are the recently opened specialized medical centers that represent a qualitative tributary to the health sector in Hodeida, namely the Prosthetics and Prosthetics Center at a cost of 504 thousand dollars with the support of the Handicap Organization, and the Diagnostic Radiology Center, which contains advanced equipment at a cost of one million dollars with local funding.
Dr. Khaled Ahmed Suhail, head of Al-Thawra Hospital Authority, said that the opening of a number of centers and departments and the inauguration of modern medical equipment during the past year comes within the framework of the strategic development plan of the Authority to move the hospital services to the highest level and provide all patients' needs.
He praised the interest and cooperation of the leadership of the Ministry of Health, the local authority in Hodeida, the Health Office and all supporting parties in supporting the Authority's efforts to achieve a qualitative leap in expanding services and providing modern equipment to keep pace with the needs of diagnosing , treating patients, and alleviating their suffering , burdens of moving them for treatment and examination outside the province.
