Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed on Friday that Kiev and its allies must agree on a plan on how to end the war before he is ready to meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin face to face.
Zelensky said, speaking in English at the Munich Security Conference, "I will meet with only one Russian official, Putin, (and this will not happen) until we reach a joint plan with Trump and Europe. We will sit with Putin and stop the war. Only in this case am I ready to meet."
Zelensky had confirmed on Friday his readiness to hold direct talks with Russia once Kiev reaches a common position with the United States and Europe on how to end the war that has been going on for three years.
"We are ready for any talks with the Americans and with our allies. If they give us specific answers to certain requests and a common understanding about the dangerous Putin, then... we will be ready to talk to the Russians," he said in this context.
