New York - (Saba):
The United Nations strongly condemned the Israeli occupation police storming schools affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in occupied East Quds.

UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric, in a press conference yesterday, Tuesday, quoted UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as strongly condemning the violation of the sanctity of UN facilities in occupied East Quds, and the storming and forcible closure of the UNRWA education center and three other schools.

Dujarric denounced the use of tear gas and sound bombs by the occupation police in an educational setting while students were in classrooms, describing it as "unacceptable."

He said: "This constitutes a clear violation of Israel's obligations under international law, including its obligations regarding the privileges and immunity of the United Nations and its staff," stressing that the sanctity of UN facilities must be respected at all times.

Yesterday, the Zionist occupation authorities stormed the Quds Boys' Elementary School, affiliated with the UNRWA, in the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood of Quds, and forced its staff to close its doors after evacuating the students from it.

On October 28, 2024, the Israeli Knesset passed by majority two laws, the first of which prohibits UNRWA activities within "areas subject to" Israeli sovereignty, while the second prohibits any contact with the agency.
