New York - Saba:
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, called for irreversible progress towards a two-state solution and a ceasefire in Gaza.
In a televised speech to the 19th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, held in Rome last night, Guterres said that the region is being reshaped, but it is not clear what will emerge, as it will be "our responsibility to help ensure that the peoples of the Middle East emerge with peace, dignity and a horizon of hope based on action." He added that the Middle East is going through a period of profound transformation, full of uncertainty, but also possibilities.
