The Student Affairs Council for Yemeni public and private universities approved on Sunday a unified general policy for coordination, admission, and capacity for the academic year 1447 AH (2025-2026 AD) during a meeting chaired by Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan Al-Saadi.
The approved policy aims to streamline the admission process and ensure fairness for all applicants. Key decisions include: coordination and admission will open on the 8th of Shawwal and close one month after the announcement of secondary school, university calendar will begin on the 1st of Muharram, except for first-level students, all coordination and admission will be conducted through the Information Technology Center's electronic portal, existing capacity and admission rates will be maintained, students with complementary Quran and Sharia sciences certificates or teacher diplomas can enroll in specific programs, secondary school certificates from outside Yemen must be equated by the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, graduates of vocational secondary schools can enroll in corresponding or humanities programs, subject to a competitive exam,:age limits for secondary school certificates will be 12 years maximum for scientific specializations, and students with certificates older than 10 years can enroll in administrative and humanities programs, and conditions for student transfers will be reviewed.
The meeting also discussed challenges faced during the previous academic year's admission process and ways to improve efficiency.
Minister al-Saadi directed universities to adhere to the approved policy and university calendar and emphasized the importance of addressing challenges and finding solutions.
