Humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels

Gaza - Saba:
The government media office in Gaza reported that the Israeli occupation continues its blatant violations and evasion of obligations and agreements that stipulated allowing the entry of humanitarian aid and basic materials into the Gaza Strip.

Ismail Al-Thawabtah, Director General of the Government Media Office, told the Palestinian Shehab Agency that the occupation systematically prevents the entry of essential needs such as food, medicine and fuel, which exacerbates the humanitarian catastrophe experienced by more than two million Palestinians in light of the ongoing aggression and stifling siege.

Al-Thawabtah explained that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels, as hundreds of thousands of citizens who were displaced by the occupation from their homes are facing harsh conditions in tents and shelters, amidst the bitter cold and heavy rains that have increased their suffering.

He added that with the entry of the low pressure system, these citizens have become vulnerable to diseases and health risks, in light of the scarcity of medicines and the lack of medical services due to the systematic siege.

He called on the international community, the United Nations, the Red Cross, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to take immediate and serious action to pressure the occupation to stop its violations and allow aid to enter without restrictions or conditions.

He stressed that the continuation of this siege constitutes a crime against humanity and a flagrant violation of international law, which requires urgent action to put an end to this humanitarian tragedy.

Al-Thawabat continued that the international community is required today not to remain silent in the face of this crime, and must assume its moral and legal responsibilities to stop these aggressive policies that target the lives of innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip.
