Inauguration winter wheat harvest in Dahi district in Hodeida

The local authority in Al-Hodeida province and the Dahi Agricultural Cooperative Association launched on Monday the winter wheat harvest season for the year 1446 AH, under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

The inauguration, in coordination with the Tihama Development Authority and the Unit for Financing Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives, in addition to the Grain Corporation, the Agricultural Cooperative Union and the Agricultural Services Corporation, included several fields in the Mahal Zaqa area.

At the inauguration, Hodeidah's deputy governor, Mutahar Al-Hadi, emphasized the importance of expanding the cultivation of wheat and strategic food crops, noting that this approach enhances efforts to achieve self-sufficiency and reduce dependence on imports.

The deputy governor stressed the need to benefit from successful agricultural experiences in Tihama and generalize them on a larger scale to ensure sustainable agricultural development.

Deputy Governor Ghaleb Hamza explained that boosting agricultural production, especially wheat cultivation, is a key pillar in achieving local food security, pointing out that the local authority will continue to provide technical and advisory support to farmers, in cooperation with the concerned authorities, to ensure the continuity of the agricultural successes achieved in previous seasons.

For his part, the commander of the northern axis - the mobilization officer in charge of the northern square, Major General Fadel Al-Dhyani, noted the Ministry of Agriculture's keenness to provide continuous support to expand the cultivation of grains , legumes, and work to enhance local production by providing basic agricultural inputs and supporting farmers with training and agricultural guidance.

Engineer Humair Al-Yemeni, the ministry's representative in charge of wheat cultivation in Tihama, confirmed that the use of improved seeds provided by the ministry has proven to be very successful in Tihama, Sardoud farms and Al-Dahi district, noting that the ministry is closely following the developments of wheat cultivation in these areas to ensure the best results.

He stressed the importance of expanding the application of modern irrigation techniques to improve productivity and rationalize water consumption, stressing that the ministry will continue to provide the necessary support to wheat farmers in the coming seasons to ensure sustainable production and achieve food security.
