French President Emmanuel Macron expected that a ceasefire would be reached in Ukraine "within weeks," indicating the possibility of reaching a truce and starting peace negotiations.
In a press conference, Macron confirmed that France seeks to quickly reach a comprehensive agreement on Ukraine with security guarantees for Kiev, which may include sending troops to ensure the implementation of the agreement.
He added that Europe has allocated significant aid to Ukraine, and supports the United States in its desire to end the conflict quickly, provided that security is guaranteed for Ukraine after peace.
On the other hand, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the goal of a ceasefire should not be just a respite from the conflict, but rather achieving lasting peace.
