The UN Security Council resolution on Ukraine is a "starting point" for further efforts to resolve the crisis peacefully, the Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations said on Tuesday, noting that Europe is the only player in the international arena that wants the conflict to continue and opposes its settlement with all its strength.
"We see that the adopted text is just a starting point for further efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis peacefully," Vasily Nebenzia said during a UNSC session following the adoption of the US resolution on the Ukrainian crisis according to Sputnik Agency.
The resolution "is not ideal, but in essence it is a first attempt to adopt a constructive and future outcome for the Council that talks about the path to peace, instead of fueling the conflict."
"Europe, which has embarked on the path of militarization, is today the only player on the international scene that wants the war to continue, and is doing everything in its power to resist any realistic initiatives to resolve the conflict," stressing: "We call on all those who truly want to achieve sustainable peace in Ukraine, not to allow the outgoing Emir of Kiev (Vladimir Zelensky) and his followers to disrupt the efforts made by Russia and the United States of America."
Earlier on Monday, the UN Security Council adopted the resolution proposed by the United States of America on Ukraine, in its original form without anti-Russian rhetoric.
The UN General Assembly adopted a second resolution on Ukraine proposed by the United States of America, which included a number of anti-Russian amendments by Western countries, after adopting an anti-Russian resolution proposed by Ukraine.
