Egypt considers proposal to assume management of Gaza Strip as rejected
[27/ February/2025]

Cairo - Saba:
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced its rejection of the proposal of the leader of the "Israeli" opposition, Yair Lapid, to assume responsibility for managing the Gaza Strip.

The Middle East News Agency quoted the spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Tamim Khilaf, as saying yesterday, Wednesday, that "any proposals or proposals that circumvent the constants of the Egyptian and Arab position, and the sound foundations for dealing with the essence of the conflict (...) are rejected and unacceptable proposals."

Khilaf considered these proposals to be "half-solutions that contribute to renewing the cycles of the conflict instead of settling it once and for all."

He also stressed "the organic connection between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as they are Palestinian lands that represent the territory of the independent Palestinian state, and must be subject to full Palestinian sovereignty and administration."

Lapid had proposed on Tuesday that Egypt administer Gaza for at least the next eight years, in exchange for the international community paying off its foreign debts.
