Study: Broccoli sprout extract helps lower blood sugar
[01/ March/2025]
Stockholm - Saba:
A new study has revealed that sulforaphane, a compound found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and Brussels sprouts, can help lower blood sugar levels, providing an inexpensive way to prevent type 2 diabetes.

The study included 74 people with high blood sugar levels and who were overweight or obese. The results showed that taking sulforaphane daily led to a significant reduction in blood sugar levels compared to a placebo.

The researchers believe that gut bacteria play a role in the effectiveness of sulforaphane, as participants who had a specific bacterial gene showed a greater reduction in sugar levels.

The study emphasizes the importance of a personalized approach in treating prediabetes, with the researchers stressing that a healthy lifestyle, including exercise and proper nutrition, remains the basis for preventing the disease.
