China.. Oldest material evidence of fire-making technology found

The Chinese newspaper Global Times revealed on Monday, that archaeologists have found ancient fire-making tools in eastern China, about 7,000 years old.

The newspaper indicated that scientists made this discovery during excavation and exploration operations at the Kaiwanggang site located in Jiangsu Province in eastern China.

The wooden drill found is more than 60 cm long, and the fire plate is 30 cm long. The surface of the plate contains a series of black circular holes that show clear signs of fire-making.

Scientists also found a circular groove at one end of the plate, which may have been used to tie a rope.
According to the Chinese Xinhua News Agency, this discovery is the oldest known material evidence of fire-making technology found in China so far.
