Mohammad Javad Zarif provided clarifications today, Monday, about the reason for his resignation from the position of Iranian Vice President for Strategic Affairs.
Tasnim International News Agency reported that Zarif said in a post on the "X" platform: I am not one of those who run away from challenges and difficulties for the sake of this country, and during more than four decades, I have endured many insults and slanders due to my humble roles in defending national interests, whether during the end of the imposed war or the completion of the nuclear agreement. However, I preferred to remain silent to avoid harming the country's interests amidst a torrent of lies and distortion.
He continued: "Yesterday, I went to meet the head of the judiciary at his invitation, and in reference to the country's circumstances, he advised me to return to university (university teaching) to avoid further pressure on the government."
He said he immediately heeded the advice "because he always wanted to be a helper, not a burden." He stressed that he "remains proud to support Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian," wishing him and other "loyal servants of the people all the best."
