London - Saba:

Amnesty International on Wednesday called for an investigation into attacks launched by the Zionist enemy army on health facilities, ambulances and paramedics during the war on Lebanon, as "war crimes".

According to Al-Mayadeen website, AI said in a report that "the repeated unlawful attacks launched by the Zionist army during the war in Lebanon on health facilities, ambulances and health workers must be investigated as war crimes, knowing that they and their facilities are protected under international law".

AI urged the Lebanese government to "grant the International Criminal Court jurisdiction to investigate crimes covered by the Rome Statute and prosecute their perpetrators on Lebanese territory, and to work to protect the victims' right to redress, including demanding compensation from "Israel" for serious violations of international humanitarian law".

The occupier repeatedly targeted ambulances belonging to the Islamic Health Authority during the war.

Last December, the then Lebanese Minister of Health, Firas Abiad, counted 67 attacks on hospitals, 40 of which were directly targeted, resulting in the death of 16 people, in addition to 238 attacks on rescue agencies, leaving 206 martyrs. 256 emergency vehicles, including fire trucks and ambulances, were also targeted, according to the minister.
