The office of the General Authority for Zakat in Al-Hodeida province organized on Tuesday a meeting for the zakat al-Fitra collectors for the year 1446 AH.
The meeting, which was attended by First Deputy Governor Ahmed Al-Bishri, Undersecretary of City Square Affairs Ali Kabari, Province Security Director Aziz Al-Jaradi, and Vice Chancellor of Dar Al-Ulum Sharia University Sheikh Ali Adabi, was dedicated to discussing aspects of facilitating the collection and distribution of Zakat al-Fitra in order to serve the poor and needy in the province.
In the meeting, Al-Bishri emphasized the great importance of Zakat al-Fitra in promoting social solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan.
For his part, the director of the Zakat Authority's office in the province, Mohammed Hazza, explained that the authority has determined the value of this year's Zakat al-Fitra in accordance with the fatwa approved by the Grand Mufti of the Republic, where the value is set at 475 riyals per individual.
He pointed out that this mechanism comes to ensure that the zakat reaches the largest possible number of poor people, which reflects the authority's keenness to facilitate the process of paying zakat and deliver it to its beneficiaries in a transparent manner.
Sheikh Adabi stressed the importance of citizens' obligation to pay Zakat al-Fitra in accordance with the legal fatwa, noting that Zakat al-Fitra is one of the most important duties that a Muslim must perform before the end of Ramadan.
