Taiz- Saba:
The acting Governor of Taiz, Ahmed Al-Masawi, was briefed on the Community Seed Bank by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), which was established at $60,000 as part of the Enhancing Food Security in Yemen project.
Al-Massawa, accompanied by a number of officials, listened to an explanation about the bank's departments and its importance in preserving seeds and strengthening the agricultural sector. He praised the efforts of the concerned authorities and the people of the region who contributed to its establishment, pointing out that it is the second bank in the governorate after the bank of Sharaab Al-Runa District.
Officials stressed that the establishment of community seed banks promotes agricultural development and preserves local seeds, noting that Taiz has an agricultural advantage in corn production. The agricultural sector official also explained that the bank will contribute to preserving seed germplasm and improving the stock of pure seeds in coordination with development partners.
