United Nations considers Israel's settlement policy in West Bank
[18/ March/2025]
Geneva - Saba:
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, renewed his call for the Israeli entity to halt its decades-long settlement policy in the West Bank, considering that the occupying entity's policy in this regard amounts to a "war crime."

In this regard, Türk stated that the transfer of settlers by Israel to the occupied West Bank amounts to a war crime. He added, "Israel must immediately and completely cease all settlement activities, evacuate all settlers, halt the forced transfer of Palestinian residents, and prevent and punish attacks by both security forces and settlers."

Türk also emphasized that Israel's settlement policy, its annexation efforts, and related discriminatory legislation and measures violate international law, as affirmed by the International Court of Justice, and also violate the Palestinians' right to self-determination.

These statements coincide with the publication of a new report by his office on the situation in the West Bank between October 2023 and last November.
