Russian Scientists Develop Method for Diagnosing Cystic Fibrosis from Exhaled Air
[19/ March/2025]
Moscow - Saba:
Russian scientists from the Institute of Cardiology at Sechenov Medical University have developed a new method for diagnosing cystic fibrosis and other lung diseases using exhaled air.

The scientists were able to identify volatile organic compounds associated with cystic fibrosis and develop machine learning algorithms to determine disease severity.

This method is an effective tool for early diagnosis and continuous monitoring of respiratory diseases.

Researcher Artemy Silantev explained that exhaled air mass spectrometry could become an important diagnostic tool for monitoring disease progression and assessing treatment effectiveness, noting that studies are expanding to include other diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
