Developing Revolutionary Drug to Treat Brain Damage After Strokes
[07/ April/2025]
Moscow - (Saba):
Maxim Karagiauer, a senior researcher at the Institute of Regenerative Medicine at the Moscow State University Medical Research and Education Center, announced the development of a drug to treat acute injuries such as strokes.

He explained that this drug relies on stem cells and their secretions to stimulate the brain and can be used in all cases of stroke, as it works to reduce the volume of bleeding in the brain and protect the damaged area of the nerves.

He added: "Strokes and traumatic brain injuries cause a series of complex problems, such as interrupted blood flow to brain tissue, inflammation, and secondary tissue damage. No current drug is capable of treating all of these effects at once, but the secretions of mesenchymal stromal cells—a type of connective tissue cell—have this ability."

He pointed out that the new drug is effective in all types of strokes and can be considered a first aid drug that helps save the patient during the critical stage.
