The Ministry of Health confirmed that 60,000 children in the Gaza Strip are at risk of serious health complications due to malnutrition.
In a brief statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health said that the closure of the crossings to food and medicine supplies could exacerbate the number of malnutrition cases.
The Ministry of Health stressed that the lack of adequate nutrition and drinking water will compound the health challenges, as vaccinations for children, especially polio, continue to be banned.
Previously, the Ministry of Health stated that the Gaza Strip is without medicine. 37% of medicines and 59% of medical supplies are at zero. Furthermore, medicines for operations, intensive care, and emergency departments are depleted to unprecedented levels, as the genocidal war continues.
The Ministry of Health stated that 42% of childhood vaccinations are unavailable in the Gaza Strip, noting that the enemy is preventing the entry of polio vaccines, which means the collapse of efforts that have continued over the past seven months to combat the pandemic.
It noted that 54% of cancer and blood disease medications are out of stock, threatening the lives of patients and disrupting their treatment protocols. It added that 40% of primary care medications and 51% of maternal and child health services medications are also out of stock.
It explained that 13,000 patients and wounded have been denied specialized treatment outside the Strip due to the closure of the Rafah border crossing.

It is noteworthy that the enemy forces have continued their aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in the death of 50,810 citizens, the majority of whom are children and women, and the injury of 115,688 others, according to a preliminary toll. Ambulance and rescue teams are still unable to reach a large number of victims trapped under the rubble and in the streets.
