Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index fell 1.06%, Japan's Nikkei 225 index fell 4%, and the Topix index fell 3.26%.
In South Korea, the Kospi index fell 0.95%, confirming its entry into a bear market after losing more than 20% from its peak in July.
The Kosdaq Small Cap Index also fell 0.44%.
