Euro-Mediterranean HR Monitor: Israel's destruction of Baptist Hospital new crime in targeting 'Last Refuge'
[13/ April/2025]
Geneva – Saba:

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has considered Israel's destruction of the Baptist Hospital in Gaza a new crime in the context of the systematic dismantling of life and the elimination of a last refuge.

It stated that Israel's claim of "military use" of the hospital is nothing but a memorized text that it repeatedly repeats to justify its crimes of killing and systematic destruction.

In a statement reported by the Palestinian Safa News Agency, it added that the escalation represents a dangerous phase in a systematic strategy to eliminate places of "last refuge" where civilians, including the sick and wounded, take refuge.

It pointed out that the enemy army's order to evacuate the entire hospital within less than half an hour does not meet the minimum requirements for an effective evacuation in accordance with the guarantees imposed by international law.

The human rights statement stated that the mere evacuation of the hospital does not revoke its protected status under international law and does not justify its targeting and destruction.
