Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei stated that the format of negotiations between Iran and the United States would be indirect. He noted that "while the issue of hosting the talks in Oman or elsewhere is still under discussion, the Sultanate of Oman will remain a mediator in the negotiations."
In remarks reported by Iran's Tasnim News Agency regarding the Iran-U.S. talks held yesterday in Oman, Baghaei said: "If we take into account the correspondence exchanged and the path that led to the indirect talks in Muscat, we find that the only issue discussed in that correspondence was the nuclear file. It’s clear that the U.S. side engaged in this interaction based on the same procedures."
He added, "Iran's position was clear—the only subject on the table is the nuclear issue and the lifting of sanctions. We will not discuss any other topic with the U.S. side. This was the foundation of our approach, and it was upheld in Muscat as well."
