Speaker of Parliament Yahya al-Ra'i on Tuesday emphasized the critical importance of providing robust support and assistance to the Yemeni Red Crescent Society (YRCS) to enable it to fully execute its humanitarian mission.
Al-Ra'i's remarks came during a meeting in the capital Sana'a with Secretary-General of the YRCS Dr. Fouad al-Makhadi.
During the meeting, attended by Secretary-General of the House, Abdullah al-Qasimi, Speaker al-Ra'i lauded the YRCS for its noble humanitarian role in serving the community. He specifically commended the Society's dedicated efforts in assisting vulnerable groups and alleviating suffering amidst the various challenges, particularly the ongoing crises and the impact of what he referred to as "American aggression targeting residential areas and the resources of the Yemeni people."
Al-Ra'i stressed the necessity of unifying all efforts to effectively address emergencies and enhance preparedness in this regard. He praised the YRCS's effective response to crises and its organization of first aid training courses for youth and diverse segments of society, recognizing this as a significant contribution to equipping individuals with essential life-saving knowledge and skills, ultimately promoting health development and improving responses to disasters and road accidents.
Dr. al-Makhadi expressed his deep gratitude to Speaker and members of Parliament for their consistent support and ongoing monitoring of the YRCS's activities. He highlighted the vital role of community cooperation in developing the skills of youth and targeted personnel, affirming the Society's commitment to collaborating with various organizations to implement more community-serving courses and initiatives.
Dr. al-Makhadi also expressed the YRCS's readiness to actively contribute to raising health awareness within society, given its significant role in this field. He voiced hope for collaborative efforts across different media platforms to encourage youth, students, and administrative personnel to actively volunteer with the association and expand its reach to include the private sector. He also provided a review of the YRCS's accomplishments in recent years.
