Tehran - Saba:
The representative of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Tehran, Khaled al-Qaddumi, on Tuesday called for declaring a general jihad in Islamic countries in support of Palestine.
"About 16 months have passed since the start of the war in Gaza, and the ugly and hateful face of the Zionist criminals has been fully exposed," Mehr News Agency quoted Qaddumi as saying.
"This war was conducted entirely with the green light and complicity of America and other Western countries, making it a battle between right and wrong," he added.
The Hamas representative in Tehran continued: "The number of martyrs and wounded in Gaza Strip has so far reached about 165,000, and the number of crimes committed by the Zionist entity is increasing every day."
He added: The great Palestinian writer Abdul Wahab al-Misiri once said that there are two reasons for the survival of the Zionist entity; the first is the wide support of Western countries, and the second is the inaction of Arab countries and their lack of support for Palestine.
The Hamas representative in Tehran added: "The third issue that we are witnessing in the West Bank is the construction of settlements by the Zionist entity and the transformation of major Palestinian cities such as Ramallah, Nablus and other cities into areas similar to Gaza Strip, while encircling their borders and strictly controlling any movement at their entrances."
Qaddumi said: "The situation today has gone beyond a mere declaration of support for Gaza, and a general jihad must be declared in Islamic countries in support of Palestine."
