Gaza - Saba:
The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine stated that the issue of prisoners is a "comprehensive national issue" that concerns every Palestinian family and every home.
On the occasion of Palestinian Prisoners' Day, the movement emphasized that the arbitrary detention practiced by the occupying entity not only constitutes an assault on individual rights, but also undermines the stability of entire families and affects Palestinian society as a whole. More than a quarter of our Palestinian people have experienced captivity and its suffering across the country.
The movement said in a statement that the occupying entity is holding approximately 14,000 Palestinian prisoners in its various detention centers, including 3,498 administrative detainees, 400 children, and 27 women. Since October 7, 2023, the occupation army has arrested more than 2,000 Palestinian citizens from the Gaza Strip. They are being tortured inside prison walls amid exceptional military measures, resulting in the deaths of 63 of them in prison as a result of medical negligence and lethal torture.
The movement emphasized that "Operation Al-Aqsa Flood" was launched primarily to impose a genuine prisoner exchange deal that would free prisoners from occupation prisons and alleviate the suffering of our people. It made their liberation an unwavering goal in the battle for dignity and freedom.
It added: "At a time when the so-called free world is revolting to release the occupation soldiers, the international community is tarnished by its silence regarding the suffering of tens of thousands of Palestinian prisoners, which has continued for decades, amidst a clear and shameless double standard."
The movement paid tribute to our valiant prisoners in the occupation's dungeons and to their steadfast families, expressing its appreciation for their steadfastness and struggle in the battles for dignity and liberation inside the detention centers. We renew our pledge to remain faithful to the promise of their liberation and freedom.
The movement also called on our Arab and Islamic peoples and the free people of the world to exert all efforts and launch popular and media solidarity campaigns in capitals and universities, to exert pressure on governments, and to organize popular activities to put an end to the occupation's violations and rescue the prisoners.
It also renewed the pledge of the resistance's commitment to liberating our heroic prisoners from the enemy's prisons, until the banners of freedom are raised in every Palestinian home.
