Shura Council: U.S. Aggression on Ras Issa Port Reflects Washington's Criminal Tendencies
[18/ April/2025]

Sana’a – SABA:

The Shura Council strongly condemned the brutal crime committed by the United States, which, according to initial reports, resulted in 74 martyrs and 171 wounded following a direct strike on the Ras Issa oil port in Al-Hodeidah Governorate.

In a statement issued today, the council asserted that the American aggression reveals Washington’s criminal nature and its desperate attempt to break Yemen’s maritime blockade imposed in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in support of their resistance against the genocidal war crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation in Gaza.

The council described the U.S. escalation as a continuation of its systematic aggression against the Yemeni people, targeting vital infrastructure, cities, and residential areas — a blatant violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and international humanitarian law. It stressed that attacks on civilian infrastructure such as ports constitute a full-fledged war crime, threatening international peace and security and exposing the hypocrisy of U.S. claims to uphold human rights and international law.

The statement also highlighted that the U.S. aggression occurs within the context of Washington’s political and military backing of Israel, and represents a failed attempt to pressure Sana’a into abandoning its principled, religious, and moral stance in support of the Palestinian cause and its heroic resistance until the full liberation of its lands.

The Shura Council reaffirmed Yemen’s legitimate right, as a government, people, and armed forces, to respond and take all necessary measures to deter American arrogance and foil its aggressive plans targeting Yemen, Palestine, and the region.

The council praised the continued mass mobilization of the Yemeni people in Sana’a and across the governorates, affirming the unity of the home front and its support for the revolutionary and political leadership and the armed forces in facing U.S. and Israeli aggression, until the siege on Gaza is lifted and the flow of food and medicine to those under blockade is guaranteed.

The council called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council and the United Nations, to uphold their legal and humanitarian responsibilities and put an end to the joint American-Israeli aggression against the Yemeni and Palestinian peoples, holding Washington accountable for this dangerous escalation.

It also urged the Arab and Islamic nations and all free people of the world to condemn and reject these American and Israeli crimes against the oppressed, and to exert pressure to curb U.S.-Israeli hegemony and arrogance — emphasizing that the aggression on Yemen and Palestine is the same, targeting the entire nation, its identity, dignity, and political independence.
