Seoul - Saba:
South Korea's ground forces conducted nighttime firing drills in a border town earlier in the week as part of efforts to boost their readiness.

"About 300 soldiers from the 3rd Land Forces Corps participated in the drills, which took place on Wednesday and Thursday in the coastal border town of Goseong, located about 160 kilometers northeast of Seoul," the ground forces said in a statement Friday.

"The exercise involved the mobilization of about 40 pieces of major equipment, including the K9A1 self-propelled howitzer, the Chunmu multiple rocket launcher, and surveillance equipment such as anti-battery radar and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)," the statement said.

"We will endeavor to establish military readiness that will enable us to respond overwhelmingly to any provocation from the enemy through practical education and training in combat zones," the ground forces explained.
